The carved bowl, reduced to a weight of 17 tonnes, could then be craned on to a transporter and taken to site. Water flows over the rim equally in all directions requiring the bowl to sit perfectly level. It was supported at three points using inflatable air cushions which allow very accurate height adjustment. Once level, concrete was pumped in under the bowl as a permanent base.
